On June 24, 2024, a major event combining the National Science and Technology Conference, the National Science and Technology Awards Conference, and the General Assemblies of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering took place in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People.
President Xi Jinping addressed around 3,000 scientists and scholars, highlighting China’s significant scientific and technological advancements since the 18th National Congress in 2012. He emphasized the urgency for stronger innovation to maintain a competitive edge in science and technology.
It highlighted the importance of robust capabilities in basic research and original innovation, aiming for breakthroughs that will reshape the global development landscape.
