CASS delegation visit in Albania

On 19 May 2026, the Business University College (KUB) hosted a high-level delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), one of China’s most prominent academic and research institutions. The delegation was headed by Prof. Wang Lei, Vice Director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies at CASS and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Eurasian Economy. The visit was organized with the support and coordination of the Albanian Institute for Globalization Studies (AIGS), within the framework of strengthening academic dialogue and international cooperation between Albanian and Chinese institutions.

The Chinese delegation was introduced to the history and development of the University, the activities of its International Office, the institution’s academic engagement, and its achievements at both national and international levels. Representatives of the university presented KUB’s growing role in higher education, its expanding international partnerships, and its commitment to fostering academic excellence, research cooperation, and intercultural exchange.

Following the presentation, both sides engaged in an open and constructive exchange of ideas, followed by a question-and-answer session focused on shared academic interests. Discussions covered a range of topics, including international academic cooperation, regional studies, economic development, research opportunities, and the growing importance of educational partnerships in an increasingly interconnected global environment.

The delegation was subsequently received by the Rector of KUB, Prof. Dr. Ylber Bezo, together with members of the university’s leadership. During the meeting, participants discussed their institutions’ respective achievements and future perspectives, and explored concrete possibilities for long-term academic collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Particular attention was given to opportunities for joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, scientific publications, conferences, and institutional cooperation between Albanian and Chinese academic communities.

In addition to Prof. Wang Lei, the delegation included Xu Gang, Research Fellow; Li Danlin, Research Fellow; Wang Xiaoyun, Assistant Research Fellow; and Nie Yucheng, Assistant Research Fellow. Their visit reflected the growing importance of Chinese academic outreach in the Western Balkans.

The meeting highlighted shared interests of Albanian and Chinese institutions in deepening scholarly engagement, promoting mutual understanding, and expanding cooperation in research, education, and regional studies.

As part of its broader mission to promote international academic dialogue and strengthen cooperation between Albania and China, AIGS remains committed to further intensifying bilateral communication.
